(Notification) IRMA: Postgraduate Programme in Rural Management (PRM) (2016-18)

About IRMA:

IRMA was established in 1979 at Anand, Gujarat with the support of the Swiss Agency for Development Cooperation (SDC), the Government of India, Government of Gujarat, the erstwhile Indian Dairy Corporation and the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB). The rationale behind its installation had to do with providing management education, training, research and consultancy support to co-operatives and rural development organisations in India.

About Course:

The programme comprises four different segmentsclassroom, village fieldwork, development internship, and management traineeship. There are five classroom terms that focus on concepts, skills, and knowledge pertaining to rural development and management using modern pedagogical techniques and concentrating on experiential learning. The village fieldwork segment exposes participants to the realities of rural life. The development internship segment helps participants understand the nature of organizational dynamics. The management traineeship segment offers participants an opportunity to apply, test, and polish skills acquired in the classroom. About 30 percent of the total duration of the programme is devoted to experiential learning and practical application of the knowledge and skills acquired in the classroom segments. The faculty is involved, to a substantial degree, in the design and supervision of all field-based segments. The evaluation of a participant's performance in the programme is a continuous process affording an opportunity for frequent and regular corrections. All four segments of the programme are evaluated and the results are reported on the participant's grade card. Participants are expected to meet the standards of performance prescribed by the PRM Committee for each segment. The current PRM curriculum is based on the recommendations of the PRM Review Committee, 2012. The Academic Calendar is displayed in Annexure 1 and the Programme Structure in Annexure 2.
